Patch 2.1 will improve graphics to 2k

Greetings fellow doctors!

Today I'm announcing you the new patch for General Practitioner, which will fix more issues with the game and introduce a new 2560x1440 max resolution.

The game is more than 4 years old now, and while a Visual Novel doesn't need 2k or 4k graphic to be enjoyable, that is not the reason why GP is just 1280x720 pixel.

When I started developing this game back in 2017 I had a very limited hardware and relied on sending the images to render to an external website with a very slow internet connection as well! In time I improved my hardware and started developing games in 1920x1080 which is now the standard resolution I use in Yomi Alliance and other games as well.

General Practitioner isn't aging very well in 1280, so I decided to upgrade it a little.

You can see some differences above. The overall look of the game is less grainy and colors are more intense, especially on newer monitors. Some images benefit from that more than others, but the game has been improved throughout.

This doesn't mean I re-rendered all the images in 2k resolution, but it means the older images have been upscaled with an IA to add pixels and preserve the original aspect.

This will also mean that the newest DLCs will get the new resolution right from the start, improving the quality of each release.

I am also planning to re-do some of the very old images and those which definitely need some re-doing, but that will come on a later patch. Of course the user interface has been upscaled as well.

I hope you'll enjoy the new graphic for the game when 2.1 will be out, ideally in a couple weeks.

Stay safe and healthy, and thank you for your support!
